Sam Cushing, a new contributor, joins us.  Sam is a conductor in the Chicago Freight Terminal and his father is a Wisconsin Division Conductor.  Sam says he’s going to try to locate some of his father’s pictures.  Thanks, Sam.

Here are Chris Faleney, James Hampton & Bill Royalty, Engineer, Engineer and Conductor/Peer Trainer, respectively and all CFT men who handled ICGH2-15 from Berkley to the CSX at 59th Street on February 18, 2011.  They returned to Proviso with a grain train from the CSX at 16th Street and turned it over to the Wisconsin Division.

Stephanie Mahaney checks out the cab of C&NW 6847 upon its arrival at the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL for permanent display on 08/22/09. This was the last SD40-2 in original C&NW paint.

Sam’s first trip as conductor on August 24, 2008 on ZCSLT with engineer Paul Lazzaretti departing 11:55 and arriving Clinton at 20:43.  Here’s how things looked at Canal and 18th St.

Conductor Dave Holmes and Engineer Tommy Belmont pose at the Proviso Administration Building on 06/28/10 just prior to taking YPR79 to the CP at Bensenville.  Both have many years of C&NW service.

On 11/25/08, the Rocketts were at Daly Plaza to promote the Chris Kringle Christmas Festival.  Being train enthusiasts, they took time out to visit CPT where Sam Cushing (left) and Gerry Ullrich showed them around.  They wanted to get in an engine cab but unfortunately that could not be arranged.   Rick Hockett took the photo.

After re-crewing at West Chicago on June 22, 2010, Illinois Division Conductor Sam Cushing lets the Dispatcher know they are all on board and waiting for the highball to head into the city with a coal train.
