Wisconsin Division Engineer Ronald W. Gluff, Sr. retired on November 30, 2005 and made his last trips the day before on Train APRPR (Proviso to Janesville and return).  Ron hired out on the C&NW on November 25, 1967 as a Fireman and was set up to Engineer on February 22, 1974.  He has spent the last 10 or 15 years working mostly the Janesville Auto train out of Proviso.

When Ron showed up for work at about 11:45 pm on November 30, he discovered another engineer had been called for his job and that a number of his co-workers were there to say good bye and to wish him well.  Later, in the morning of the following day, the UP held a retirement party for Ron at Proviso with cake and ice cream.  These photos were taken around midnight on November 30 at Proviso.

Ron is a member of the C&NW Vets and we sure hope he stays in touch with us.  We all wish him a long retirement and the best of luck.   (Thanks to Dave Hawley for this news and the fine photos.)
