Keith N. Holmbeck, 70, of Harvard, died Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Mercy Harvard Hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1943, to Clifford and Florence (Steininger) Holmbeck in Beloit, WI. On Sept. 17, 1977, he married Carol A. Gunn at Church By The Side Of The Road in Rockton, IL. He worked for the Chicago Northwest Railroad as a station agent for over 41 years. He was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Carol A. Holmbeck of Harvard; six children: Brian (Kelli) Holmbeck of Janesville, Scott (Tracy) Holmbeck of Beloit, Brenda (Al) Wiedmer of Clinton, Deborah Ammeson of Clinton, Jason Holmbeck of Harvard, and Janelle (Tony Stephens) Holmbeck of McHenry; 10 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; five siblings: Muril Holmbeck of Beloit, Dave (Peg) Holmbeck of Clinton, Judy (Steve) Trawinski of Elizabeth, CO, Jean (Don) Beckman of Springtown, TX, and Nita (John) Becker of Janesville; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Andy Peppler. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeremy Holmbeck; two sisters, Diana (Milton) Spoon and Rosemary Maavich.
The visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 21, at SAUNDERS & MCFARLIN FUNERAL HOME, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard, IL, 60033. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at the FUNERAL HOME. Interment will be private.
