Mark filled up Page 1, so here we go with Page 2 along with some fine contributions by Bob Fisher.  Thanks, Bob & Mark.  We sure appreciate these excellent pictures.

The George Bush Heritage Unit was in West Chicago this summer (07/08).  Former C&NW Engineer Tom Horvath was in charge of the display train and is pictured on the left.  Tom is now Manager of Operating Practices for the Illinois & Iowa Divisions.

Here’s Bob Richards back in 1988 when the C&NW ran a special train to Rockford, IL and from there to the Warner-Lambert plant.  Apparently the plant was new or the C&NW had just signed them up as a new customer.  Dignitaries were aboard, some speeches were made and then the train went out to the plant.  Photo credit goes to Greg Scholl Video Productions and we thank Scott Coleman for sending it to us.

Here is Illinois Division Engineer Steve Staley on MPREA #01.  Steve is also the local chairman for the UTU-E, local #597.  The picture was taken on 02/01/07 by Conductor Bob Fisher.

The last two C&NW units, the 8646 and the 8701, are at Smith Road in Wayne on Tuesday afternoon, June 27, 1906, ready to head for Belvidere with Engineer Tommy Tucker (left) and Conductor Mike Poplilek. Tommy is the last CGW man on the system having started at Sycamore, IL at age 17.

Here’s Tom and Mike on the C&NW 8646, ready to leave Smith Road.

Here’s the train at Smith Road in Wayne.

The C&NW 8646 approaches Route 25 in South Elgin enroute to Belvidere.
