Minutes
of the Green Bay C&NW Veterans & NARVE Joint meeting held at the
National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Dec 17, 2014. The
following minutes to be read at our next meeting at the Titletown Brewery on
Wednesday January 21, 2015. President
Truman Koehn of the C&NW Veterans Association read the minutes of the
previous meeting which was held at the National Railroad Museum on Wednesday
November 19, 2014. 5
members were in attendance. Dick
Jobelius, President of the local NARVE chapter reported that the 1.1 Trillion
dollar spending bill that was passed by the U.S. Senate on Saturday December
13, 2014 amends the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) allowing
cuts to the pensions of current retirees in multi-employer private pension
funds. This issue does not affect
railroad retirement, but this issue is much too close to home. NARVE is opposed to such use of power
without proper hearings or debate.
This legislation also did not include any funding for high speed rail. Old
Business: None. New
Business: Frank Hedstrom showed all in
attendance a letter he received in April of 2010 from David Meyers, a
spokesman from Milwaukee. In the letter he states that he contacted the
National Railroad Museum concerning the possibility of obtaining a Korean War
era locomotive, but was told that after 1972 when then director Harold Fuller
passed away, that the museum no longer was looking for military equipment and
were going in a new direction. Frank
was an Engineer in Korea during the Korean War on one of these locomotives. Report

on deceased members/non members:
Daniel Bohm (non-member) passed away on December 11, 2014 at the age
of 86. Dan was a former signal
maintainer. Our
next meeting (after January 21, 2015) will be on Wednesday February 18, 2015
at the National Railroad Museum. Lauren
