Business Trains

Here we have a Business Train at Elroy and 7 pictures from a “Retirement Special” to Rockford – all thanks to Mark Llanuza.  The last three show a 1953 Business Train in South Dakota.  If anyone can identify anyone in these pictures, please let us know by e-mailing the webmaster.

A 1984 Business train at Elroy, Wisconsin.  Way to the left, just about out of the picture, is Chris Burger.  At the rear of the train are Ed Burkhardt, Bob Drengler and D.J. Owens.

November 1990 Retirement Special to Rockford.  Jim Zito is standing to the right and was the man responsible for having this train operate.  Standing to the left is Ralph Justen.

Here’s Jim Zito (left) and Bill Otter at Union, Illinois where the retirement special made a stop at the Illinois Railway Museum. 

Left to right – Nick Kallas, IRM General Manager, Jim Zito and Lou Nicotera at Union.  By special arrangement, the Museum was open for this group.

3-car Business Train at Quinn, So. Dak. in 1953.  With the arrival of this train, the population of Quinn must have doubled.  Our thanks to Jerry Drager for telling us the year and identifying the men in the next photo.

. Second from the left: A.G. Johnson, Black Hills Division Superintendent.  At the far right: J.H. Winfield, Black Hills Division Master Mechanic.  The others are unknown.  In the rear – Engine1504. 

One of the enginemen also unidentified, as is the location.  We do know that President R.L. Williams on board this 1953 trip to the Dakota’s
